This bookmark was made in the US by J. F. Fradley & Co., a small New York silver manufacturer in business from 1870 - 1936. It is in the shape of a man, Sam Weller, the servant of Samuel Pickwick from the book The Pickwick Papers by Charles Dickens. It is marked Sterling, the cross hallmark, 1863 and The Metcalf Co. Also inscribed on the back is "Sam Weller". Date is 1890 - 1936.
